West Hollywood comes into its own as twin city to established Beverly Hills

OK, I’ll put my thesis right up front. The Beverly Hills/West Hollywood area is the best place to live in Los Angeles for convenience combined with amenities. Period. (Full disclosure: my own home is in the area). And that’s why the prices for homes and condominiums there are higher than in just about any other part of L.A.

The two cities (yes, both are cities, separate from Los Angeles) share a border at Doheny Drive, and although Beverly Hills is much larger geographically (5.7 square miles vs. 1.9 square miles), their populations are approximately the same, making WeHo (as West Hollywood is commonly known) much more densely inhabited, largely because of the huge number of condominiums and apartments.
